Arizona conservationist and newspaper reporter. Ben Avery was born in 1909. Shortly after, his family moved to the Clifton area. A reporter for the Arizona Republic from 1937 to 1974, Avery covered Arizona politics, the Capitol and Legislature, water and public land issues as well as outdoor news.
